Muddled Cocktails: The Book Was Better

Swung by to see our friends @navystrengthseattle and they brought me a cocktail that was on fire! Inspiration ensued..."The book was better":2.5 ounces @plantation.rum overproof1/2 Blood Orange1/2oz Lime Juice2 sugar cubesCouple shakes Peychaud's bittersIceCrushed iceFire!Gently pull the pulp from the blood orange, keeping the half shell intact. Drop the pulp in the tin with the sugar and lime juice #muddlefiercely. Add Rum, bitters, and ice. Shake vigorously. Fill glass with crushed ice, strain in cocktail. Pack on a bit more crushed ice and the half shell. Splash a bit of that overproof into the shell and light it up! Add ice, Gin, and Liqueur. Shake vigorously. Double-strain into a cool glass, toss in a big ole sprig of rosemary for the grams. Enjoy! Muddled Cocktails: Mezcal and Watermelon

Baby watermelons and Mezcal!In today's muddled cocktail we were able to grab some tiny watermelons to smash up into a "longing for summer already" cocktail. 2oz Mezcal (our go to is Vida from @delmagueymezcal )1oz Lime Juice4 large chunks of watermelon1/2oz Agave SyrupIce@tajinusa for garnish#muddlefiercely watermelon in the tin, add the rest of the ingredients and shake hard. Grab your glass and do one of those cool instagram rectangle herb garnish things with the @tajinusa . Fill the glass with ice and double strain your cocktail into the glass. Here is a funky little cooler for you...Muddled Cooler:1.5oz Batavia-Arrack1.5oz @puebloviejomx Blanco Tequila3 Mint Leaves1/2 Blood Orange5 BlueberriesIceCrushed iceQuick note on Muddling Mint leaves. Most cheap muddlers out there have those serrated ends. These are terrible for herbs and peels as they over express or in the case of Mint, chop it to death and leave it mucking up your drink. Snow Leopard Melons!  These super sweet and tasty members of the honeydew family are killer and make for a great cocktail. Dazzling Display3 large chunks of Snow Leopard Melon (Honeydew will also work).2.5oz Cachaca ( @novofogo )1oz lemon juice.5oz SimpleEgg whiteIceTanjin to rim (and a little to waste for the grams)Muddle melon in the tin.Add simple, lemon juice, Cachaca, and egg white to the tin. I like to pull the spring off my Hawthorne strainer and "dry" shake my egg whites with it in the tin to froth everything well. Put the spring back on, add some ice, and shake vigorously.
